Celebrate Game Day at the Overton Hotel

Celebrate Game Day at the Overton Hotel

There are two seasons in West Texas. Waiting for football season, and football season. The former has passed; it’s time for football- and not just any football, Texas Tech football!

There’s no better place in Lubbock to stay than at the Overton Hotel and Conference Center, especially during a game weekend. The hotel boasts a prime location, the best game day atmosphere in town and several amenities. Enjoy our full-service in-house restaurant, bar and pool during a stay and one-of-a-kind views of campus from the room. Overton Hotel is just a cheerleader’s yell away from the action; some say they can hear the referee’s whistle from the parking lot.

Wreck ‘Em Alley, Overton Hotel’s pre- and post-game tailgate, is back this football season. Red Raider fans know the drill, the party starts three hours before kick-off with live tunes, yard games, food and drinks. The tailgate features a new menu, a fresh set of vendors and musicians to go along with a seven-game home slate. Don’t forget to grab a drink or two from cash bars located around the hotel or try some samples from on-site vendors.

Treat yourself to the Wreck ‘Em Alley menu curated by Executive Chef Christopher Doporto and Food and Beverage Director Douglas Noxon. The new menu features some classic game-day bites, like wings, loaded nachos and three selections of pizza. Some of the more interesting items on this versatile menu include brisket jalapeño poppers, elote corn ribs and a green chile double cheeseburger. Enjoy a quick bite for yourself or feast with the whole family; there’s something for everyone.

The ever-changing lineup of musicians keeps the party rocking before kickoff to long after the final whistle. We’ve got all the makings of the best tailgate in town, both before and after the game, and it includes air conditioning! As the official hotel of Texas Tech Athletics, the Overton Hotel makes sure to represent its corporate partner. As soon as you walk into the lobby, you feel the Red Raider spirit. Welcoming home Red Raiders from far and wide for a weekend of fun, food and football.

Overton Hotel’s proximity to campus ensures that guests are only a few steps away from the action. Before the game starts, make the two-block stroll to Jones AT&T Stadium to watch the opening kick-off featuring West Texas doctored aerodynamic tortillas soaring through the air. After the game, the party continues back at Wreck ‘Em Alley. Double T 97.3 joins the action to give their post-game coverage of the game. The fun proceeds well into the evening before guests head to the elevators and up to their rooms.

If you’ve stayed with us before, you probably have the Sunday morning routine down. The weekend is winding down, meaning it’s time to check out and travel home, but not before heading down to our full-service in-house restaurant, Pecan Grill, for a filling breakfast. Order off our breakfast menu for à la carte options or opt for the breakfast buffet with a made-to-order omelet station. Guests in a hurry can swing by the Red Boot Café, where We Proudly Serve Starbucks coffee and grab-and-go breakfast options.
