WOW is wow!

WOW is wow!

The World of Wonderland (WOW) has grown from humble beginnings almost seven decades ago to one of the state’s best amusement parks.

From three kiddie rides in 1951 to more than 35 rides and 20 attractions, Wonderland Amusement Park has something for everyone. It includes a handful for thrilling roller coasters, including the double-loop Texas Tornado, water rides to cool off on a hot summer day, kiddie rides great for families, miniature golf, plenty of games and great food outlets.

An iconic regional landmark, thanks to the addition of the Drop of Fear, Wonderland attracts more than 200,000 visitors each year. It is nestled in tree-lined Thompson Park on Amarillo’s north side, easily reached by the Dumas Highway (US 87/287).

Admission prices are very reasonable, starting at just $16.95 per person for a weeknight WOW Pass that includes most rides, to $39.99 per person for a full weekend day pass that includes all rides. Just coming to watch the kids? Admission is only $5. Coupons and special offers are always available on the park web site.

Lines are short, park size is easy to manage, and fun is limitless, especially when compared to expensive theme parks in major metro areas. The fourth generation of the founding family continues to run Wonderland, keeping the family’s commitment to fun, value and great entertainment.

Recipient of a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, Wonderland is in full operation in June and July. It is open from 7-10 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night. It opens from 5-10 p.m. on Friday nights. Weekend hours are 1-10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The schedule cuts back in August.
